I am a second-year PhD student studying the role of cognition as a modulator for innovation in wild birds. My research focuses on a combination of molecular and behavioral techniques to assess problem-solving and learning performance in tree swallows. I adopt a multidisciplinary approach to science, using techniques from the fields of neuroscience, behavioral ecology, and conservation biology. I also highly value the use of accessible, open-source technology and the power of community outreach.
I received my B.A. from Albright College with a dual degree in Biopsychology and Digital Media, completing a senior thesis under the guidance of Dr. Justin Couchman on perceived personality characteristics in shelter dogs. I received my M.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Science from Penn State University. Mentored by Dr. Jason Keagy, I studied the effects of noise pollution on problem solving in wild Eastern bluebirds.
