About Liz
I am a 6th year PhD student who is broadly interested inthe mechanistic and functional drivers of individual differences in social behavior. My research uses genomic and behavioral approaches to investigate natural variation in aggression among individual female tree swallows. I also explore the role of metabolism and energetics in maintaining such variation. I am a Graduate Research Fellow supported by the National Science Foundation, and my work has also been supported by the NIH, American Ornithologists Society, and Indiana Space Grant Consortium. In 2024, I was proud to receive the Hanna Kolodziejski Award for excellence in service and the William Rowland Award for excellence in student mentorship.
I received my BS in Neuroscience from Lebanon Valley College, then worked as a research technologist at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine before coming to IU.
Beyond my research interests, I’m passionate about engaging with the public to share science. Check out my first co-authored clip: here.
